Beats by Dr. Dre – Gimmick or Good?

Beats by Dr. Dre

When I did finally give Monster Beats by Dr. Dre a try, I was actually very impressed by the excellent sound quality. The isolation from external noise was superb making every sound, highs, mids, and lows incredibly crisp and clear. I also really liked the comfort and feeling of the Beats over my ears.

Hear What You’ve Been Missing:

In further researching what Beats are all about, I’ve found that Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, record producer and current chairman/CEO of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, paired up to make Beats in order to put high quality audio, music sounding they way artists intended it to sound, back out on the streets. With music pirating, low bitrates, horrible computer speakers and a lot of cheap little white earbuds going around, Jimmy felt that the way people were listening to music today was in such bad shape that the emotion a musician felt when making the music got lost somewhere in the shuffle.

So one day he ran into Dr. Dre when he was walking on the beach. Dr. Dre told Jimmy that a sneaker brand wanted his endorsement and Jimmy said, “F*ck sneakers, let’s make speakers.”

So that’s where the idea of Beats by Dr. Dre began. Then they starting off on the journey with three long years of testing and development to make headphones that would turn Jimmy and Dre’s quest for high quality sound that anyone could HEAR and FEEL into a reality.

Here’s Jimmy Iovine telling the story:

The biggest thing is that the speaker is made up of advanced driver material that is lighter, faster and more rigid than ordinary drivers. The result is extremely accurate sound. Then it’s powered by a large digital amplifier like a home stereo but built into the headphone itself. It allows you to play without any distortion and it gives it its big subwoofer like bass.

The combination of the extra large advanced speaker driver and the powered digital amplifier creates powerful and crystal clear sound, deep thumping bass that you can feel, and vocals that are clear and natural.

Inside Beats

The noise reduction blocks out everything but the music you want to hear making all the subtle nuances of sound fully audible.

It’s connected to a Monster headphone cable, which is no ordinary cable. In fact it has some of Monster’s most advanced speaker technology but built into a compact design. And the connector is an extra small, extra short mini jack so you reduce that stress on your mp3 player over time.

Beats by Dre Cable and Case

While Beats are all about high quality sound, you also get the following ‘extras’:

First of all it has a very heavy duty, high gloss, scratch-resistant coating. And if someone’s got to talk to you, you need to chat, don’t worry, don’t even bother taking off your headphones, just push the push to hear button on the right hand side.

If you have an iphone or other music phone, Monster also gives you an extra sonictalk cable that has a mic and answer button that pauses your music so you can have a hands-free conversation.

To keep your Beats clean, Monster also includes a Monster clean cloth that not only polishes your Beats but also has antimicrobial agents that remove germs.
When you’re ready to go, if you don’t want to style your Beats around your neck, then simply fold and pack them in the included hard-sided rugged carrying case.

Beats by Dr. Dre allow you to hear music in ways you’ve never heard before and thousands of customers and music artists already agree.

If you look at the customer reviews on Amazon.com, you will see that most people love Beats by Dre for the deep bass, excellent sound quality and stylish design.

But you know what they say, “hearing is believing.” So like me, who was initially skeptical, give Beats a try for your self and hear how good music really can sound.

The Studio Beats are made to really give you that Studio quality sound, the way the artists intended for you to hear it. With large ear cups and plush ear cushions, Beats are so comfortable that you’ll never want to take them off.
